Similar rules are now being implemented in numerous regions of Nanjing and the provinces of Gansu and Qinghai.
While some local authorities had previously banned alcohol - content work events, the recent ruling prohibits the consumption of alcohol in private times by officials in full days of the week.
State employees are deprived of alcohol not only during but after eight hours of their office.
On one Notification of government, it is said that those who need to drink during the week should apply to those above them.
Applicants must explain the nature of the event, the identity of other participants, and how much alcohol they plan to drink.
