American officials have earlier claimed that an Iranian antiaircraft missile crashed the plane, killing all 176 passengers and crews. And they assumed the attack may have been a mistake.
The plane crashed just hours after Iran launched a ballistic missile attack on Iraqi military bases used by American troops in the middle of clashes with Washington for an attack on an American drone that killed Iranian Revolutionary Guard General Qasem Solejmani.
