American billionaire and liberal activist George Soros has pledged investment of $1 billion in the creation of a network at universities around the world, with the aim of providing civil society assistance, in a world that is being run more every time by current “dictators and incoming”.
He has made these statements while aiming to criticize leaders of the United States, Russia and China.
The 89-year-old Filantropi has said at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, that his efforts to create this network mark the most important project in his life.
Soros has said that humanity is at a turning point and that the years ahead will determine the fate of leaders like American President Donald Trump or Chinese Xi Jinping.
“We are living in a transformative moment in history. The survival of open societies is at risk as we face an even greater risk: climate change”, the billionaire has said.
Soros is known as a harsh critic of Trump.
He told reporters at the end of the speech that the American president is <x0 climate affirming”, as well as criticised his economic policies.
Soros has said his new project, the University Open Society Network, will be an international platform for learning and research, which can access all universities in the world. / REL
