The United States has sanctioned four energy companies, arguing that they have helped oil exports to the elite forces of Iran's Revolutionary Guard.
Sanctions made public on January 23rd come three weeks after US forces have killed the elite forces commander of this Guard, Qasem Solejmani, through a fearful attack on Baghdad.
The United States is taking new steps under our maximum pressure campaign, denying the Iranian regime all resources through which it finances destabilising destabilising activities”, said US Secretary of State Mike Pompeii through a statement.
The US Treasury Secretary has said two sanctioned companies are based in Hong Kong, one in Shanghai and another in Dubai.
In the statement it is said that all companies have exported oil from Iran's National Oil Company, worth “hundreds of millions of dollars”, to help Iranian elite forces, which the United States has declared foreign terrorist organisations. / REL
