Soy oil is a common ingredient in processed foods, making up half of all the vegetable oils produced in the world, but it poses a health hazard, scientists say.
Concretically, at the University of California, Riverside, a study was conducted in rats, with a group taking soy oil - rich foods, another soybeans without acid, and a third coconut oil broadcasts Kosovas.
The results showed that soybean oil causes diabetes and overweight. In addition, it can lead to genetic changes in the brain that cause such neurological disorders as anxiety and autism, Alzheimer's disease, and depression.
It modified the expression of a hundred different genes in the region of hypothalamus, led to different inflammations and negatively affected metabolism. Both species of soybeans had similar effects, while coconut oil did not have them.
Changed genes include those related to schizophrenia, depression, and Alzheimer's disease. The gene responsible for the secretion of the oxytocin hormone, which promotes closeness and a sense of euphoria, has suffered the greatest consequences. Changes in its function are accompanied by depression and autism.
