Great fires in eastern Australia have been active for months, causing smoke to spread over the Pacific sky.
NASA said that the smoke of these fires has already surpassed South America and made it halfway around the globe on January 8th.
This smoke is expected to make at least a complete spin around the world”, the agency's statement said.
Part of the smoke has already reached the stratosphere, at an altitude of 1,7 km [177 km] from Earth.
“as it enters the stratosphere, smoke can move thousands of miles from its source, affecting weather conditions across the world”, NASA said.
This agency said that smoke has changed the color of the sky in South America and New Zealand, where it has significantly weakened air quality and visibility, writes “BBC”
