Merkel: Germany alone in the EU can protect its values and interests

She further recalled that Germany in the second half of 2020 will take over the rotating EU presidency, and in this context they will try to make Europe's voice rise strongly in the world.

Merkel announced they will hold summits with China and African countries.

The co-operation with Africa is in our interest”, she said.

The German Chancellor stated that if people are given a life of peace and security, migration can be reduced.

She highlighted, among other things, that lasting security can be highlighted if wars are ended with political solutions.

Merkel also spoke of developments of the rising right extreme in Germany, stressing that it is the State's duty to protect people against hatred, hostility, violence, racism and antisemitism.
