On Saturday morning, Iranian state television published an army statement, in which it is said the crash of the company's “Ukraine International Airlines” aircraft has occurred due to a human error. This announcement was subsequently conveyed by the Iranian president's apology.
President Hassan Rouhan wrote on Twitter: the Islamic Republic of Iran has expressed deep regret over this terrible mistake. My thoughts and prayers go to all the families that are mourning. I offer my sincerest condolences. ”
The army's statement said the plane crashed was wrongly thought to be an enemy target after returning to a sensitive military centre of Revolutionary Guards.
The military apologised for this disaster and said it would update its systems to prevent future mistakes. Furthermore, the statement states that the responsible persons will be accountable to the Justice Department within the military system.
