Hoti: Croatia postpones visa liberalisation for Kosovo

The European Union Council presidency will be in Croatia's hands by June of this year. The best news from this lead, international affairs connoisseur Africa Hoti sees visa liberalisation, which he says Croatian leadership should have a top priority. “Should be the issue of liberalisation [...]
“should be the issue of liberalisation for the fact that now in a formal sense we have met the criteria and what Kosovo is holding in place is the issue of lack of political will. I think it should be the first target of Croatian leadership with the Council, because it's unfortunate and it can't be seen only by political trends but also humanitarian content”.
Hoti said about Periscope that Croatia can help Kosovo on other issues as well, given the fact that it is familiar with the problems Kosovo faces.
“Croatia has traditionally had good reports with Kosovo and in particular is informed of the problems facing Kosovo, initiated by the particular report the EU has with Kosovo, and in particular the issue, already prolonged, the issue of visa liberalisation for Kosovo”.
“It is the help that Croatia can eventually be in restarting dialogue, in reaching the normalisation agreement between Kosovo-Serbia” reports, has added Hoti.
And Kosovo's application to this council, it links it not only with reports with Serbia, but also with non-recognition by the 5 EU member states.
The greatest <x0blem than Serbia exists the non-recognition of the five EU member states, which still keep Kosovo's integration into the EU on hold. The lack of these 5 states and non normalised reports with Serbia is binomi, which breaks down or does not let Kosovo move further. This binomial is connected because the eventual agreement would serve for recognition by the 5 member states”, Hoti said.
Visa liberalisation within the first 6 months of 2020
Hoti has said that if government creation and consolidation of institutions are achieved, Kosovo could have visa liberalisation in the first six months of 2020.
I see the possibility that in the first half of the next year if we can form the government and consolidate our institutions and show seriousness, I think we can get visa liberalisation too soon”.
Any delay in the political sphere, Hoti says he also delays the issue of integration and liberalisation.
“Entering the election age will not only have consistency but will continue to suspend integration into compliance and the issue of visa liberalisation. From August 19th to today, and possibly even the following weeks or months, have served as a suspension of the entire integration system that is making this Kosovo process very complicated and meaningless”, Hoti concludes./ P ERISCOPI/
