The study shows that in Hong Kong, which has been part of antigovernmental protests since June 2019, almost a third of adults have symptoms of PTSD and that this rate is 6 times higher than in 2015.
It has also been found that the level of depression among adults in Hong Kong is close to those living in conflict zones.
Researchers have noted the importance of taking new mental - health measures in Hong Kong.
Research findings are published in the magazine “The Lancet”.
During the pro-democratic protests in Hong Kong that began in June 2019 against the draft law on extraditions to China, there have been escalations of clashes and violent incidents between protesters and police.
