January 27th is marked on the calendar as International Holocaust Day, one of the largest massacres in human history.

This date, set by the UN General Assembly, in honour of Holocaust victims, corresponds to the anniversary of the liberation of death camps, Auschwitz-Birkenau by Soviet forces in 1945.

Today in my “History” program in Tv Klan was invited Amos Doka, who is a descendant of a Jewish family.

In the studio, he confessed that his grandmother was from Czechoslovakia and two months before World War II, she settled in Albania with her husband. Her entire family disappeared in the notorious Auschwitz camp, and only his grandmother survived because she fled to Albania.

Michelle Milori: Do you have a typical Israeli, Jewish name?

Amos Love: Yes, it is! It is a typical Israeli name that my grandmother, who forgave her because she no longer lives, has given me that name ever since.

Michelle Milori: Tell me about your grandmother?

Amos Love: My grandmother's Jewish, coming from Czechoslovakia. Born and raised in Czechoslovakia. From Chekhya came to Albania two months before World War II. In Czechia she recognized an Albanian. They met together and came to Albania to live.

Michelle Milori: So was your grandfather?

Amos Love: Yes, my grandfather from Mother's side!

Michelle Milori: So they come to Albania two months before World War II? Are they located in Tirana?

Amos Love: Yes, settle in Tirana and continue to live such a life until the Germans come to Albania, in '43. At this time, Grandma's position in Tirana became a little dangerous, despite the fact that people around us were Albanians. But to be even safer, Grandma moved to Milot and then from Milot to Great Debar. He stayed there for a while until it was quiet. This was the possibility of her escaping this chase by the Nazis of that time.

Michelle Milori: How many sisters and how many brothers did your grandmother have?

Amos Love: She had two sisters and another brother. Grandma got lucky she got away because the whole family disappeared in the infamous Auschwitz camp.

Michelle Milori: So the whole family saved only your grandmother?

Amos Love: If she came to Albania, she would have the same bad luck as her parents, sisters, brothers, grandchildren, grandchildren. Almost 15 people have disappeared.

Michelle Milori: I want to know when she lost contact, how do you tell her? That they would normally have had letters for a while, but then when Nazism came, how did she communicate with her family?

Amos Love: From time to time, Grandma received letters from her mother, her father, from the brothers, but then left, and sometime from the beginning of properly 45, she receives a letter from her neighbor, telling her that the whole family disappeared in that camp.

Michelle Milori: How was her experience in this?

Amos Love: It was a very painful experience, plus that in 45 the country was released here and Grandpa was arrested directly. He was one of the first arrests, in camps, in exiles. Now this woman had to cope with the complete loss of her family and care for the three children she had. It was a real drama for a young woman in Albania who and Albanian did not perfect her very well.

Furthermore, Amos shows that a great help to Grandma has been the tyrannical family of Ramadan Cacll.
