Green: I didn't come to get involved in political discussions.

President Donlad Trump's special envoy for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Ambassador Richard Green, has stated he will not be involved in political discussions, but will try to postpone some projects dealing with economic development and job creation for young people. Ambassador Green [...]
Ambassador Greenell, who has held a business dinner with Kosovo President Hashim Thaci at a Pristina restaurant, said he wants to make progress in the region, Kosovo and Serbia on the economic front.
President Trump has been focused on solving this problem, not looking back, not using the same old political arguments. We want to make progress in this region in Kosovo and Serbia, on the economic front. Young people need work, that's Trump administration formula. We have a sensational economy in the United States, because we have been able to tell the government to dialogue again. Let business flourish and let go of the road and let people move on. What we're doing here is, to understand that these long problems need people's concentration and focus, so we need to give jobs and economic development to deserving people, the people of Kosovo, who deserve to have new jobs and a bright future. And what I'm trying to do is look at all the issues that have created a jam in the negotiations, that have an economic impact. We will postpone both governments and leaders of Kosovo and Serbia and tell them to look at the people and start moving ahead with jobs. The US business community, the business community in Europe, will want to come to this region with a large measure, well we can't do it if there is conflict from the political establishment of both countries”, he said.
Ambassador Grenelli pointed out he would not be involved in political discussions.
“What I try to do, it's pushing a few different projects, we have some ideas that we're going to postpone and which will create some energy, economic incentives and, in particular, good-paid jobs. So this needs economic development, and as I said President Trump has been focused and having a visual economy and people who participate in the economy in a new way, new jobs, then politics follows these, because then people focus on their daily lives. That's why I came here, I won't get involved in political discussions, that's kind of looking back. I want to start looking and advancing both Kosovo and Serbia in terms of a broader understanding of joint work for the people”, he said.
Meanwhile, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci said he is confident that under US President Donald Trump's leadership, the final agreement between the state of Kosovo and Serbia, and such an agreement, according to him, will help many economic development, progress, peace and stability.
The head of state said Ambassador Green is not in Kosovo on local issues, but on dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
“Decently thank you very much for the new agreement we have reached in Ambassador Green's leadership and the powerful leadership of President Trump, the airline between Pristina and Belgrade. I think it's new, what others haven't done is making Ambassador Green and the US administration. The role of the United States in this process is extraordinary and irreplaceable. I am confident that under President Trump's leadership we will reach the final agreement between the state of Kosovo and Serbia, and that will greatly help economic development, progress, peace and stability”, he said.
President Thaci, speaking of LVV candidate Albin Kurti's nomination for prime minister, said he is now left with political parties working to make the majority in the Assembly.
He argued that Ambassador Green's visit is not about local and political issues, but about Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
I have nominated the candidate for prime minister at his request, the first party chairman. It is now left to political parties to work and to himself, find partners and make enough of the majority to be voted in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. Ambassador Grenelli is special in charge of normalising Kosovo-based reports. Serbia by President Trump, is not about local and domestic political issues here, as if there are no diplomats to intercede or pressure even ambassadors in Pristina on local domestic issues, because it is the right of each political party to elect a partner. Therefore, we will discuss dialogue, discuss issues that are of vital importance to the consolidation of the state of Kosovo and the eternal cultivation of relations between Pristina and Washington. So, it's outside the local and electoral agenda this visit, but it's on the agenda of planning forward dialogue, about what I'm fully confident about, again I stress that under President Trump's leadership we're going to reach”, President Thaci said.
Ambassador Green's visit comes true after reaching the agreement to open the Pristina-Belgrade airline. This agreement on the creation of the Pristina-Belgrade airline has been described as an important step towards normalising relations between the two states, and has been welcomed by leaders in Kosovo, Serbia, as well as by internationals.
Ambassador Green will hold further meetings tomorrow.
