Trudeau stressed that he was shocked and sad by reports of the plane crash.
“On behalf of the government of Canada, Sophie and I express our deepest condolences to those who have lost family, friends and loved ones in this tragedy”, Trudeau said, referring to his wife.
Trudeau added that Foreign Minister Francois Philippe Champagne has contacted the Ukrainian government and is communicating with relevant authorities and international partners.
He also stressed that Transport Minister Marc Garneau is co-operating with officials from the Civil Aviation Directorate, “Transport Canada”, as well as with his international counterparts. / A T S/
