People who smoke cigarettes have long been told that they are endangered by diseases that can develop as lung cancer.
The study published in Nature magazine found that health benefits can extend even longer to the dunenarians, with the body apparently constantly creating healthy cells to replace those damaged by lung tobacco when these smokers decide not to smoke anymore, writes The Guardian, translates Periscope.
“People who have smoked for 30, 40 or more years often tell me it's too late for them to quit smoking that the damage has already been done,” says Peter Campbell, co-author of the study.
The one that gets excited by our study is that it's never too late to quit smoking. ”
Some of these people had been smoking over 15,000 packs of cigarettes in their lives, he said.
But within just a few years of non-smoking, many of the cells showed no damage to the cigarettes they had been smoking,” added further. /Periscope
