Albanian citizens want common curriculum, textbooks

Research has been presented by two civil society organisations, in Kosovo and Albania, the Kosovo Open Society Foundation (KFOS) and the Open Society Foundation for Albania (OSFA), which completed this research at the end of 2018. These organisations have measured the interoperability and attitudes of both countries on a range of issues, such as interaction, social distance, images for neighbours, European integration, regional co-operation, perceptions and stereotypes towards each other, attitudes towards the official co-operation of both countries and attitudes towards the national union.
According to this research, citizens of the two countries have estimated that there are close relations between Kosovo and Albania in the field of trade, tourism, sports and culture, customs, foreign policy, education and the drafting of joint development policies.
But what the two sides have agreed on is that they should have common curriculums and textbooks in pre-school education.
More than the Kosovo Albanians, it is those of Albania who have expressed interest for textbooks and curriculum to be shared.
67.9% of respondents have fully agreed that Kurricla and pre-university education are common for the two countries, while 58.2% of Kosovo Albanians have agreed to this proposal.
But citizens surveyed by Kosovo and those from Albania assess that not enough has been done in deepening co-operation in the field of justice and judicial system, exploitation of natural resources, agricultural policies and fighting organised crime.
As for developing relations between the two states, most respondents have estimated that there is still work to be done in this regard.
61.4% of Albanians in Albania estimate that relations between Kosovo and Albania have not developed sufficiently, while 55.8% of Kosovo respondents share that opinion.
During this one Research Where 2,504 citizens from both countries have been surveyed, 1,200 have been from Albania, while 1,304 have been from Kosovo.
In addition to Albanians, 300 Serb citizens have also been surveyed from Kosovo, who have estimated that Albania is trying to economically dominate Kosovo and that Albania intervenes greatly in Kosovo's internal affairs.
Citizens of Albania and Kosovo agree that Albania plays the great “role of the Vlach to Kosovo, that it has helped recognise Kosovo from the countries of the world, and also that it represents Kosovo's interest in the world.
Developing close relations between Albania and Kosovo by the majority of respondents has been estimated to benefit both countries equally. Kosovo Albanians on a higher scale, around 21% of Kosovo Albanians estimate that in close relations between countries benefits Albania more, while 10.2% of respondents in Albania estimate that they benefit more from these relations Kosovo.
