Albania ordered the first-time expulsion of a member of the Gulen movement in Turkey and Erdogan evening of Wednesday 2019, raising concerns about violation of basic human rights.
Social networks broke out Wednesday evening, delivering news of Harun Celik* sending to Rinas airport, while an hour later, State Police spokesman Genjan Mullai confirmed B IRN that the person in question “was expelled from the country”.
“Person was in prison after being detained by Rinasi border police with false documents. Under law enforcement “for Foreigners” will [be] expelled,” said Mullai.
Prime Minister Edi Rama's office said questioned by BIRN that “punishment is a matter of legal procedures that has nothing to do with Prime Minister”.
Albania thus joins a small number of states that abide by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's request to send to Turkey for criminal persecution every person linked to the global Gulen movement, which he accuses as organiser of the failed coup of the 2016 state.
In February 2015, Kosovo expelled five citizens wanted by Turkey, causing international anger and fierce criticism from the EU and the US for violating the regular legal process and violating fundamental human rights. Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj in that case dismissed the head of the country's secret services as well as the interior minister, claiming he had no knowledge of the deportation.
