Wessel: The Constitution of Kachanik, the historic twist that culminated in the liberation fight for freedom

“Despite constant persecution, our courage and organization to end the former Yugoslavia just got bigger. These efforts culminated in the creation of our armed resistance, with the war of the Kosovo Liberation Army and the proclamation of our independent and sovereign state, which we now enjoy at large”, has written Wessel on his Facebook page.

The proclamation of the Kosovo Constitution in Kacanik 29 years ago was a historic moment for our people.

Following the July 2nd statement, September 7, 1990, gave a new historic turn of events to widespread efforts at freedom and independence. Despite constant persecutions, our courage and organization to end the former Yugoslavia was growing larger. These efforts culminated in the creation of our armed resistance, the war of the Kosovo Liberation Army and the proclamation of our independent and sovereign state, which we now enjoy at large.

The sacrifice of many generations to whom we are eternally grateful has led us to gain freedom and independence. The glorious past is common, and together we must build the future, for every citizen, for our country.
