Zelenskiy, who was present at the session, rejected suspicions that this decision would expose MPs to persecution by those in power. Before the vote began, the president said lifting immunity does not mean lawmakers will be responsible for political decisions.
I'd like to remove all myths and political manipulations. Members of the assembly will continue to be protected. They will not be responsible for their political decisions, voting or any public or political declaration”, the Ukrainian president added.
The 41-year-old former Timothy won this year's April 21st presidential election. Three months later, his party “People's servant” won the most votes in the extraordinary elections and secured 254 seats in the 450-member assembly, writes “Free Europe”.
