The European Parliament for Justice, Internal Affairs and Civil Freedoms Commission (LIBE) has supported the resumption of technical negotiations with the European Union Council for visa liberalisation for Kosovo.
But despite this support from the LIBE Commission, integration experts say they are unlikely to change things for Kosovo. According to them, this recommendation is only a repeat of the action of the 1930s of 2018, due to the new EP legislature.
On the other hand, by the end of 2019 the EU Council of Ministers will hold two meetings and the issue of visa liberalisation for Kosovo is not included at any meeting schedule. Experts explain that the provisions of these two meetings are already agreed on and that the Kosovo issue is not on the agenda. According to them, it is unlikely that the liberalisation promised by the government for 2019 will occur. As they say most likely this process will be postponed by 2020, when the EU Presidency passes Croatia and Germany.
On the other hand, the Ministry of European Integration, despite the newspaper's insistence, has refused to talk about the matter. Meanwhile, the Commission for European Integration of the past legislature says Kosovo has fulfilled all the criteria and that it is no longer in our hands.
