United Nations humanitarian affairs chief Mark Lowcock has said that some 70,000 people “need immediate life rescue aid”.
The U.S. National Bridge Center said the storm is moving toward the US Atlantic Coast, with winds up to 184 miles per hour.
US President Donald Trump, “is monitoring the situation closely”, the White House said through a statement.
The president asks all citizens of Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia to follow instructions from their local officials this week”, the statement said.
