White House adviser Peter Navarro on Tuesday called on investors and all others to be patient ahead of the main US-Chinese trade negotiations, scheduled for next month.
“If we want to get a great result, we need to allow the process to take its way”, Navarro said in an interview for CNBC.
American President Donald Trump, now two years ago, has been searching for a trade agreement with China.
He has imposed severe tariffs on Chinese imports, causing China to retaliate with tariffs against the US.
Protection of intellectual property, forced transfer of American technology to Chinese firms, the entrance of American companies to China's markets and industrial subsidies are the main issues in talks between the two world economic superpowers.
President Trump said days ago that China must reach agreement with Washington, warning it will be even tougher to Beijing if trade talks drag on.
The trade struggle between the US and China has shaken stock markets and has raised fears of a global recession.
