Wessel for the Prizren murder: Justice Gives the Right Response

The Speaker of the Parliament, Kadri Veselin, has condemned the serious event that took place last night in Prizren, where a man shot his wife to death, appealing to justice to give the copyrighted answer.

Wessel said domestic violence and the mistreatment of women conflict with the traditional values of the Albanian family.

The prime minister added that the negligence and indifference of the state-run law institutions towards women who have been convicted or women's calls for assistance will no longer be tolerated.

“The heavy murder rate in Prizren is an unacceptable act I strongly condemn. Family violence and mistreatment of women are phenomena that conflict with the traditional values of our family as well as with basic human rights. Women in Kosovo have been consistently subject to discrimination, abuse and violence. In this case, I call on police and justice institutions to provide the well-deserved answer to this painful case and that cases related to violence against women may be dealt with with with with particular priorities and commitment. The transparency and indifference of state-run law institutions towards women who have been cast into caste, or women's calls for assistance, will no longer be tolerated”, Veselin said.
