Turkish memorial causes avalanches of reactions in Tirana

The establishment of the memorial for the military and police's remains during the coup three years ago in Turkey, on the hills of Tirana's artificial Lake, has been described as a strong provocation, sparking an avalanche of reactions in Albania to become a top argument on social networks as well. But tensions have also gone on [...]
But tensions have been traced to the memorial itself. Still unidentified persons have placed toilet paper and other items on it in symbol of the rejection of this memorial in Albania, writes today “Koha Ditore”.
A letter has been left on it: “Respect for anyone who no longer lives, but this monument does not belong to us belongs to our former invaders. It took place on 11.08.2019, peacefully in democratic country”.
Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, for the first time, commented on the memorial issue imposed by the Turkish Embassy near the Park of Artificial Lake. From the headquarters of the Albanian Muslim Community, where she conveyed congratulations on the Kurban Bajrami holiday, Veleyaj stressed that there are over 50 points in this area where various events or individuals are commemorated, and that for all those who received the August heat in haste for placards, no quarrel or betrayal took place.
