Surprises After October 6th Elections

For connoisseurs of political issues, after the election date and results proclamations, changes can occur, since parties “remove <x1) red lines. According to them, surprise in Kosovo politics may at any time.

In the 6 October elections, besides already handed over to the CEC, the Democratic Party of Kosovo -- the Democratic League of Kosovo and the Vetevendosje -- competes alone.

The latter by Friday afternoon were in talks and very close to an arrival of a pre-election agreement, but was not reached since the subjects disagreed about the prime minister's post.

However, the possibility of party co-operation, in post-election coalitions, is seen as possible for almost all subjects, even though many of them have consistently declared that they have red lines for specific subjects.

For political analyst Behlul Beqaj, politics in Kosovo functions without rules and surprise can be at any time and at any opportunity.

We have not had a concrete programme on how to eliminate the issue of the problem of corruption and organised crime. We have had statements and political statements, but they can only end with statements like it has been thus far” he says.

And political affairs connoisseur Rasim Alija says two single political subjects in Kosovo do not have the power to form the government, so the possibility of joining political parties after the elections is great.

He even says the red lines remove almost each party after the outcome of the October 6th election.

Alija: Political parties have no red lines after elections

“What will be interesting is the behaviour of political subjects after elections or after the election results, as you know the first winning party or the first winning coalition is entitled to mandate the candidate for prime minister, here is to bring the whole game away. I think all political subjects, exempt Vetevendosje, will remove the red lines. There will be no red lines, even we can have non-progressive coalitions or a dark coalition, as it has been. 2017 PAN. After the end of the coalition deadline in the CEC, until September 6th the deadline for candidate and party application remains.
