Idriz Zogaj, Albanian from Kosovo living in Sweden, for years deals with the memory sport, participates in world championships, has won many awards and trains young groups for a strong memory. It's all technical, he says, that, if you learn it, you get it for a super memo. If the brain is tested on the right techniques, like the body in the gym, you'll be able to remember endless numbers, names, events, etc. ”
The World Memory Championship has been held since 1991. Since 2004 there's another... Albanian. Today he is a teacher and equipped with licenses to open and create different groups, contests, and contests in this kind of sport.
He's a degree in physical engineering, but they mostly know him as a memory expert. He left Kosovo, his home country at the age of 2. He lives in Sweden, where he continues his great passion.
You learn how to improve their memory and believe that with the right practice and constant exercise, everyone can have a reminder.
Idriz has represented Sweden at the World Memory Championships, where he has won numerous awards in the sport. He can remember letters in order by looking at them for little time, numbers, years, or events, equations, and he can fix them without problem.
If you want to improve your memory skills, you need to free your imagination and have fun!
To master a good memory, training is required, much training. But some techniques are simple to understand, and immediately you can start using” -- says the champion.
Zogaj has given us some advice on how to improve our memory, and through a conversation we have become more familiar with this interesting character.
-Mr. Idrizi, how did you come in contact with this kind of sport?
I've been starting since 2004. It was the time when I wanted to learn a new language, a new language, and while looking for books to learn the language, I encountered a publication that had to do with lessons to strengthen my memory. That's where I said, okay, to learn another language, you have to remember it. That book unwittingly stuck in the final chapter, where it said that if these techniques are adopted, you can participate in the world championship and compete there. I was surprised by the fact that, in the time span of several weeks, I was able to pass several levels at once. And so in that same year, I attended the first great memory contest, attended by representatives from 30 countries around the world.
- For all those who don't know, what's a memory sport?
It's a sport like everyone else. In this case you have to learn techniques and memorize paper, numbers, words, dates, names, anything you want to get into your brain. Things that don't understand the brain, which are abstract to it, you can't remember, right now you have to visualize the information, simplify it. For example, a certain figure can be compared to a certain character because then you can remember it.
- You told us you taught. Who are your students?
There are, from children to important personalities, including businessmen. They learn techniques and then practice them. They are surprised when they achieve results and resent themselves as to how they have not known them before. For example on my team in Sweden, I have what is best in the world, Jonas von Essen, has won the World Cup. I am the author of several books, adult books, and children's books, and there are lessons in memory techniques. You decide whether to remember it or not.
- Do these techniques help students or students learn more?
Yeah, one of the competition links at the championship is remembering the historical date and the world record is someone who in five minutes has memorized 132 historical dates. So what you learn for a year, you can learn in five minutes. This applies to history students and not just to them.
- More specifically, how is that done?
The first is to connect information. One word, one picture links it to the other. We remember very many numbers, but to remember the figure you have to compare it to a picture. All dates should just be visualized. A number give him a picture, otherwise you don't remember him.
- How much stress does memory loss affect?
It affects a lot. Stress hurts your brain. If a person is constantly accompanied by stress, he is directly struck in memory, so he should be careful. And this is an ideal moment to train on memory. You also need to live a healthy life. You must have a normal sleeping regime. You should sleep at least 7 to 8 hours in 24 hours. You should eat well, because if your body is not well, then it is not the mind. When we are stressed, we are easier to forget.
- What pleasure does this sport give you?
But it's kind of like going to the gym and doing an exercise, you finally say; I did it to you. Brain training should be part of school, must be part of learning.
Shit.
How to Train the Brain
Idriz Zogaj gives us some concrete advice on how to improve our memory and train it. Albanian champion shows several techniques:
Focus
When I talk about memory, I talk about the five steps to take to improve your memory. The first is to focus and be determined to remember the information. Whether it's a person's name, phone number, or a food list. Then we come to what I call the ABC memory. Any person who competes in the field of memory manages to do what you may think is impossible, using these three techniques.
Connection Method
This approach involves the connection of information. For example, if you want to remember a few words, you can group them and create a beautiful, animated story. The more you have fun, the easier it will be for you to remember! This technique is especially perfect when you are learning a new language. If you connect words in two different languages by using the Connection Method, you will improve your learning skills drastically! You can practice this method with Zogaj Memo Gym and Zogaj Game courses.
The Method of Similarity
Your brain cannot afford much abstract information. Therefore, it is important to link information to something that your brain can handle and understand. For example, 52 cards in a card game are abstract for most people. However, if you link each card to a person or to a particular object, your brain will try to activate all the mechanisms in your imagination to be more easily remembered! Also, numbers 0 to 9 can be accompanied using rhyme. Number Zero rhymes with the word Hero (in English), One Sun, Two Crew, and so on. You can find three ways to connect numbers 0 to 9 in Zogaj Game.
A mental compass
Actually, it is not hard to memorize. Our brains can afford it if we concentrate. The problem is finding information and knowing where to look. C stands for the travel method, which has been used by all memory athletes in the world as well as by the ancient Greeks! This method works merely by imagining a place you know well and the connection of information to that location. So when you need that information you'll know where to look!
Make Repeat
Despite good techniques, we all have to repeat the information! When I learn a new set of letters, I have to repeat it. However, using the above techniques and after much exercise, I have to look at the cards only once and remember them completely.
Knowing how and when to repeat it is very important! Most try to learn more and faster than they can. These people need to realize that training is more effective when it is divided into sections and chapters over a period of time.
From Engineer to Memorial
Idriz Zogaj is 42 years old. Born in Prizren and fled his hometown when he was only 2 years old. Life in Sweden has not been easy for him, but he has managed to manage it by becoming famous, more for the world there, than for Albanians themselves. Today he's a coach who gives lessons in the field of memory. He's completed his highly studied physics engineer, but at a point where neither he nor she had thought of it, he changes direction, he's devoted to memory sports. Even at an early age, he has been able to preserve the Albanian language well.
