Despite the fact that the QUINT states have called for immediate continuation of dialogue and the removal of the determined tax on Serbian products, none of the political parties have been declared pro-remoted. On the contrary, representatives of political subjects have dedicated particular importance to early elections, after which the dialogue must resume, writes the newspaper “Voice”.
Earlier this week, the QUINT states called for the immediate resumption of the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia. The call of five QUINT states for resumption of the negotiation process came at the time when a new government is expected to come to Kosovo, either through a new electoral process or without even going to the polls. But although there is also this option, which the Constitution allows, political parties have demanded that early elections date be set immediately after August 22nd, when the Assembly distribution hearing is expected. While commenting on the QUINT's call for continuing political party representatives' talks have said the process of dialogue should begin after new elections, while none of them have been declared tax removal, though QWINT has asked for that. Representatives of civil society, meanwhile, have considered that after the process is resumed negotiations with Serbia, they should be led by the Government, responsible for Kosovo's prime minister.
In the four meetings that have been held so far under the closing stage of dialogue Kosovo is represented by President Hashim Thaci. The last meeting between the two sides was held nine months ago, on November 9th 2018.
