The construction of the Great Mosque in Pristina has yet to begin, even though its stone was set in 2012. Pristina Mayor Shpend Ahmeti, in a proposal for Radio Kosovo, has indicated that BIK has not yet asked permission to start work around building this mosque:
The Islamic Union has yet to apply for permission, when they come by application, then we see what is inside the plan, within the conditions we have issued, then we have our legal obligations. ”
Ahmeti said he does not know why the Islamic Community has not applied for construction permits, but he thinks the cause of this procrastination may be the change of the project.

Radio Kosovo has tried to contact officials from the Islamic Community of Kosovo to learn details about this issue, but none of this institution has been approved. Otherwise, in 2013 no project had taken first place but had only second and third places. However, a winning company that was selected is said to be from Turkey, but there are no more details. Otherwise, this mosque is designed to be built in Pristina, in the “Ulpiana” neighbourhood, near the Grand Post, in space of 81 gold ground.
