Some 350,000 new documents have come to Albania's Central State Archives, which date back to the 15th to 20th century. All of these are historical and administrative documents that will be put into the service of scholars very soon.
These documents belong mostly to the National Renaissance period and are donated to Istanbul's Ottoman Central Archives.
The oldest “Document dates back to February 8th, 1455, and is a registry that includes mine, including Albanian cities such as Prizren, Janina and Elbasan. Among the materials that Archives has received is the ordinance sent to the Ohrid, Vlora, Delvina, Bosnia and Podgorica for the arrest of Shkotserifi Mahmut Pasha and his brother Ahmet Pasha, the Busatli, because they co-operated with Albanian and Montenegrin rebels. And among these documents is the farm with administrative advice that has been brought to Ali Pasha Tepelena to secure order and tranquillity in the forts of Parga, Presveza, Dubnica, which were recovered from the French. Also, one of the documents is Mores responsible officer Ahmet Pasha's letter, where the witnesses are ordered not to allow the return of displaced Albanians to More”, says Ardit Bido.
These documents do not include property.
There are circumstantial property documents. A small portion of the miners found in historical archives. Tapi themselves are not part of Istanbul's historic archive. They're part of another institution. We've been working in this direction for years, but I can't say a result of this”, Bido adds.
These documents will be placed in the service of scholars next year. /tch
