While EU Foreign Ministers in Helsinki discuss “regional co-operation” with partners from the Western Balkans today and tomorrow, France's President Emmanuel Macro has urged French diplomacy to work on “the integration of the Western Balkans into the geography of Europe”.
To have a European strategy means to consider the boundaries of Europe,” said Macro at his annual meeting with French ambassadors worldwide today, French media reported.
Macron stressed that in the “a world that changes strategicly and geopolitically”, within Europe's borders, France must re-age “with our neighbours and countries that deeply love us, so that we do not allow non-European powers to act instead of acting in”.
France's president stated that “otherwise the US, Russia and Turkey will decide for the Western Balkans”, adding that the “men have their own ideas here too, and I have to say, more effectively and more strategicly than our ideas. ”
He said of the strengthening of Europe, whose foundations are humanity, intensiveness and Enlightenment, but also concluded that “beyond doubt that we are experiencing the end of Western rule in the world”.
