“Learn about the powerful (and dark) movement that is shaking the world

A powerful world movement is undertaking major campaigns to persuade people to stop bearing children. They are known as Antinathalists and have very powerful people on their side, but no one knows how far they are willing to come to convince the world of their ideas. Network [...]
British television network “BBC “has analysed their ideology and interviewed some of its supporters, to better understand the consequences such a campaign on the world population, but also the roots of their ideas.
Thomas, 29, lives east of England and is sure of one thing: People should stop having children and must gradually disappear. This philosophy, called Antinathalism, dates back to ancient Greece and has recently received a major boost from social media.
On Facebook and Reddit, there are dozens of anti-Nalistic groups, some hundreds of thousands of members. In Reddit, Antinathalism has approximately 35,000 members, and only one of the dozens of antinathalist groups on Facebook has more than 6,000.
They are scattered throughout the world and have a variety of reasons for their beliefs. Among them are concerns about genetic heritage, not wanting children to suffer from disease and depression, overpopulation, and environmental destruction.
While belonging to different social classes, they are united in their desire to stop human reproduction. And although this is a highly contradictory movement, some of their views, especially those of the Earth's situation, are increasingly taking place in global political discussions.
For example, while not anti -antalistic, Duke of Sussex recently stated that he and his wife were planning to have the maximum of two children because of environmental destruction and climate change.
Philosopheric Roots
Thomas had not heard of antinathalism before someone used this term on some comments on YouTube a few years ago. Since then, he has become an active member of a Facebook anti-natalist group.
I think it's wonderful to discuss real life problems,” he says. “We have a clear purpose, let's say we want people to disappear and not evolve”.
Thomas has been sterilized by doctors at the National Health Service of Great Britain, although English doctors may refuse to perform the sterilization operation if they believe the procedure is not in the patient's best interest.
Is that a violent move?
Despite the nihilistic rhetoric of antinalistic groups, there is no indication that they are a violent threat. They talk about the disappearance of human beings, but no one in their online communities is threatening murder or violence.
Thomas says none of us were asked if he wanted to come to life.
If everyone thought about playing the game of life, I would personally have no objection to that,” he admits. “But we don't ask before we come to life”
The preservation of Earth?
The arguments of antinathalists in recent years have also been on environmental damage and potentially devastating effects of climate change.
Judging from posts in anti-attalist groups, there is a great overlap between their ideas and environmental protection activists.
I feel that it is selfish to have children at this time”, says Nancy, a animal rights supporter and a yoga instructor from the Philippines. The reality is that children born in this world are creating more destruction for the environment “.
A petition is constantly spreading to a Facebook group that supporters of this group hope to send to the United Nations. It calls for the unilateral ban on births worldwide now stops and so far it has 27,000 signatures.
The idea to prevent the birth of children from stopping the environmental disaster is not new. In Britain an environmental organisation has proposed this for years, though they are not anti-natalists. In fact, they argue that this would be in favour of the stability of the human race and not the disappearance of it.
Our aim is to reach the harmony between the human race and the planet we are lucky to dwell on,” says Robin Maynard, director of the group. If we have fewer children across the globe and smaller families, we can manage to have a much more stable population. ”
But will the growth of the world's population lead to environmental disaster? According to environmental expert Stephanie Hegarty, it is difficult to say, because the future is so difficult to predict.
After scientific projections, due to economic development and declining fertility levels, the world's population is likely to reach about 11 billion for 80 years,” says. ” But we still don't know whether the planet can hold so many people or not “, she adds. (Gazeta Si)
