Kusari-Lila: I doubt the distribution of the Assembly

The alternative for Kosovo, the appointment of the Assembly's distribution session by August 22nd, is viewing it as deliberate, by parties that, according to their ability to try to find a solution without an election. The head of this party, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, in an interview for Online Economics, says she believes parties will be honest when they talk about new elections.
I wish parties were very serious and honest when they call for elections, or when they say they're ready for elections. The fact that we have such a great delay indicates that time was bought in a classic sense of the word to try to reach any agreement, or a choice with no choice. Can't reason the delay or the difference a month from the day outgoing Prime Minister Haradinaj resigned, until it was talked about calling the session in which the Parliament” would be distributed, he says.
MP Kusari-Lila says any calculations to create a technical government would be a serious violation of democracy in the country.
According to her, a technical government would be mandated only to continue dialogue with Serbia and in no way address the problems and demands of Kosovo citizens.
“Whatever the calculations, the government's adoption without electoral process in Kosovo, would be a serious violation of democracy. But if the Kosovo agenda is determined elsewhere then we show that we are not really representing ourselves as sovereign, or as those who are decision-makers in our country. President Thaci, with the competencies that define the Constitution of Kosovo from the moment he took office, has exercised more activity than previous presidents”, she says.
Kusari-Lila says that by recognizing President Thaci's past, he may even prove something like this, but that it will not be useful for the citizens of the country, and that in Kosovo they will no longer be able to talk about democracy.
What I have to say is that under the circumstances under which it was created it could find a solution with parties which say that, for the sake of the country's interest, they were put together in the government. But that technical government, or government with a mandate set for a topic, will only be in the function of dialogue with Serbia. That government cannot address the interests of Kosovo citizens, or the necessities with which a government is mandated to solve citizens' problems. That government would only be mandated for the process of dialogue, which has not done well these years has been nontransparent and has not managed well and has been owned by two-three people, but not broad information on opinion. If this government is built only for dialogue, then democracy in Kosovo should be paused to”, she says.
Moreover, the chairman of the Alternative, doubts that on August 22nd the Assembly will be distributed, because according to her, the time range that has been created leaves space for <x0 unexpected developments”.
There are currently 80 deputies who are saying the Assembly should be distributed, but actually whether it will happen, I have doubts. I can't say I'm sure of one choice, not another. I think both options are on the table, and from this date until August 22nd many things can happen. It remains to be seen by parties that are larger and have more MPs, which may be part of discussions on any other election-free solution”, she says.
And if the Parliament is distributed and the place goes to the elections, Kusari-Lila says they have two options for possible coalition.
She says they have started talks with Vetevendosje, but would prefer a joint coalition with the LDK.
“We have kept the report many colleagues and collaborators with LDK and VV during this two-year period, not very productive in the Kosovo Assembly, with many problems and the legislature's challenges. So far we've actually had conversations with the VV about the possibilities of cooperation, but unaccedented. The LDK has been more engaged in the internal electoral process, now it's also with the institution of organs. We, of course, have always been convinced that the united opposition could be the next strong government, of course by vote in the Assembly, but also by clear mandate and development vision”, he says.
But a coalition between the two largest opposition parties, Kusari-lila, is seeing it as difficult to make it work.
It's not up to us to postpone these two parties because they both have their own organs. But seeing my decision-making within political structures, I have doubts that an agreement can be reached even against the will of the leadership to go to a common list. The alternative competes with one of these two parties”, he says.
The alternative for Kosovo in the 2017 elections was part of the LDK list, while winning two deputies.
But that Ilir Deda chose to function as independent in the Kosovo Assembly.
