Almost every day, in the 24-hour Kosovo Police report, domestic violence is reported. In Pristina's municipality shelter, which also covers several surrounding municipalities, 52 female members, of them and children, and 26 cases are from the capital, KTV reports.

The director of this institution, Zana Aslani, has said that based on statistics of the previous years, the number of cases is on the rise, but that, according to her, does not mean that violence is on the rise, but awareness of reporting this phenomenon is higher.

The greatest challenge for these cases is their reintegration. Having no economic independence, they are forced back to the bully. We have a lot to do in this direction, but special mechanisms must work to enable professional courses, employment and economic independence”, Aslan said, through a written response.

While in the Ministry of Labour and Social Management, they have said that this dictatorship does only monitor social work centres, which are on municipal level.

On this issue, the ombudsman has sent a letter to institutions related to dealing with domestic violence.

The report says that despite Kosovo's making progress in establishing responsive mechanisms against cases of domestic violence, there are still aspects that require the attention of responsible authorities, in terms of the state's positive obligations for the right to life. Victims of this nature continue to face various challenges, especially with the malfunction of authorities designed specifically for preventing this phenomenon, which in many cases is ending fatally.
