The last Sunday of September and the first Sunday of October are the closest dates when early parliamentary elections are expected in the country.
Analysts and former officials say elections should be appointed no later than 45 days after the Parliament's distribution.
September 29th and October 6th of this year remain the closest dates for holding early elections in Kosovo. Under the Law for General Elections, after the distribution of the Kosovo Assembly early elections are appointed by the president no later than 10 days after the distribution.
Adnan Rrustemi, member of the Central Election Commission (KQZ) from the Vetevendosje Movement, has said the elections could be held no sooner than 30 days after the Assembly's distribution and no later than 45 days after distribution. He has said he is expecting the president to set the election date and, like the Commission, will then begin with their organisation.
The distribution of the Assembly is clear that the election process is the first step. The president has his destiny to set the election date, but it cannot be later than 45 days after the distribution of the Parliament and no later than 30 days. We expect the president to decree the date of the elections and to the deadlines to run even the CEC's competence activities, which will immediately approve operational plans, the necessary budget and start preparations. The CEC is ready and responsible for the election”, he said of Zeri.
Rrustemi has declared that the moment the president makes the decision on the election date, the CEC will also begin communication with other institutions, until it has said there will be no obstacles, though a member of the PAN coalition is missing from the Commission.
“We expect good organisation and strong voter turnout in this election. The CEC is functional and has enough members for decision-making. A Coalition Member Missing PAN because of their internal reports, but that does not prevent the CEC's work, even though it would be good to complete the CEC”, he said.
