New Delhi decided on Monday to annul Article 370 in its Constitution, which knew the autonomy of Kashmir's region. The decision was followed by numerous protests in the streets of the region, and the federal government made a decision to close many schools, shut down the internet and cut off waves for phones.
This has put Kashmir's 12 million people in total isolation.
Kashmir's region has been divided into two parts since 1947 between Pakistan and India, all of which claim it. Three major wars have been fought between two countries, while provocations have never stopped by turning Kashmir into the world's most militarized area.
With the annulment of Article 370, Kashmir's management will be passed under the administration of the Indian Federal Government, and laws adopted in Parliament will not have to be passed to the regional assembly to enter into force. This decision also opens the way for other Indian citizens to buy land in Kashmir and settle there, follows the TCH.
Pakistan has reacted sharply after India's decision to expel the ambassador and sever diplomatic relations. Islamabad has announced that even airspace will be closed to the Indian aircraft.
Pakistan and India are both nuclear weapons states and a total conflict between them could have serious consequences for the entire region.
