Charles Koch announced his brother's death in a statement Friday. David Koch had reportedly suffered from prostate cancer for many years.
David Koch studied engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and joined Koch Industries with headquarters in Wicita Kansas in 1970. He became chief executive of the Koch Chemical Technology Group.
The Koch family is best known for building a wide political network with great influence in support of conservative causes. The Koch brothers founded the American Organisation for Perëndiaadena (Americans for Prosper), which supports initiatives for a small government and those against tax hikes.
Professor of political science at Columbia University Alexander Hertel-Fernandez, who studied the Koch brothers and their influence, told The Washington Post that “is hard to think of another group of individuals who have had such an impact on our political system that were not elected officials. ”
According to The Washington Post, Koch Industries became the second - largest private company in the United States, and by 2018, the brothers were informed that each of them had assets worth about $60 billion.
