Officials and witnesses said the explosion occurred at around 9am local time in the western part of Afghanistan's capital, Kabul.
At least 95 people were injured in a major explosion in front of a police station in Kabul, officials said.
The blast occurred around 9am (04:30 GMT) in western Kabul, Interior Ministry spokesman Nasrat Rahimi said before adding that the bomb was fired when a vehicle was stopped at a checkpoint outside the station.
Health Ministry spokesman Wahidullah Mayar said at least 95 people, mainly civilians and including women and children, were sent to the hospital.
The blast sent massive smoke on Afghanistan's capital.
“I heard a big noise and all windows were broken with glass flying everywhere,” told the store's keeper, Ahmad Saleh, the AFP news agency.
My “coca is spinning and I still don't know what happened, but the windows of about 20 stores about a mile from the blast site have been broken,” he added.
The Taliban took responsibility for the attack.
According to social media videos and witnesses, small shootings with firearms could be heard after the explosion.
Violence is increasing in Afghanistan and Kabul, while the United States and Talibani negotiate a peace agreement ahead of the elections scheduled for September 28th.
According to the United Nations, more than 1,500 civilians were killed or injured in the Afghan conflict in July alone, the highest monthly victims to date this year, and the only worst month since May 2017.
