Serbia hinders Kosovo Tax Administration's accession to IOTA

Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali has expressed the satisfaction today that Serbia's Tax Directorate “has succeeded in preventing the Kosovo Tax Administration's accession to Belgrade International Tax Administration Organisation (IOTA)“, reports the newspaper “Danas”. As this paper quotes him, Serbia's Finance Minister has said that “is excellent news for Serbia and even a confirmation that we have succeeded in showing the unlegitimacy of so-called Kosovo institutions in this way. This way, therefore, we have proved that nothing is achieved by force and without agreement with official Belgrade nothing can be achieved”. According to him, according to the current IOTA Charter, members of this organisation can only be the countries accepted by the United Nations.

In a communiqué of Serbia's Minister of Finance notes that the delegation of Serbia's Taxation Directorate in Brussels was made up of director Dragana Marcovic and the main person for contacts with IOTA, Snezana Ilq, “s who have successfully succeeded in handling the issue, so that the Tax Administration of the so-called Kosovo has not been admitted to this important international organisation” in the general assembly that has been held from July 1st to 5th this year.

The IOTA was founded in 1996 as the Tax Administration Association in order to help Central and Eastern European countries establish successful tax directorship. Currently, this organisation has 44 members.

As experts say, it deals with the promotion of tax administrations, conveying experiences and eventually making available advanced tax directorate programmes to less developed ones.

So it's exclusively about the professional consulting association. Its mission is to provide forums for discussion on practical tax issues, promote co-operation among tax administrations in the region of Europe, identify good practices and encourages their implementation, and supports the development of tax administrations of member states, writes “Danas”, Time broadcasts.
