Kosovo Police General Director Rashit Qalaj today has held a meeting with the management staff, including the directors of regional police directors and chiefs of regional and highway traffic units, from which he has sought increased police activities during the summer season.
According to a police communique, the meeting discussed the overall security situation in the country, including safety in road traffic.
“Referenced statistical data for the first six months of this year compared to the same period last year has resulted in a decline in criminal acts and traffic accidents. Also discussed is the measures and police activities in the coming days during the summer season, where additional activity and police presence in every part of the country were required, including local/vitti, regional, national and highway roads. Since this period of time also characterizes the arrival of fellow countrymen and the organization of various family festivals, it is required of the police to be as present and at the same time to take measures to provide traffic safety and precautions of other illegal phenomena. Police will continue co-operation and co-ordination of activities even with local and central institutions”, the communiqué says.
Kosovo police have asked citizens not to use weapons to celebrate, preserve order and public calm, as well as participants in traffic to respect road traffic regulations.
