Both missiles have been launched from the coastal town of Wonson in eastern North Korea and have flown 130 miles [430 km] before they reached the sea.
This has been Penian's first step in more than two months, since the North Korean leader, Kim Jong, and US President Donald Trump have agreed to restore negotiations for denolarisation.
The Associated Press news agency has quoted a South Korean defence official as saying that the United States has investigated one of the missiles. Japan's Defence Minister has said Tokyo has not found any objects on its territory or in the economic zone.
However, according to the minister, if the missiles were ballistics, then these actions are contrary to UN sanctions.
The negotiations on de-unalcing between Trump and the North Korean leader have stalled after the second meeting held in February.
