US Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats is expected to resign from this post this week. According to some reports, he will be replaced by Texas conventioner John Ratcliffe.
Coats in the past has also served as Republican representative, senator and ambassador of the United States to Germany. He is the director of national intelligence since the beginning of President Trump's powers in 2017. It is believed that the reason for his resignation is exactly the clash with the president on several issues.
He had publicly criticised Trump for his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and had told a Senate panel that he thinks North Korea will not give up nuclear weapons.
Some media have reported that President Trump may change his mind about changing this position's objector, but the newspaper “New The York Times” reported that Joh Ratcliffe is most likely to replace the director by far.
Coats himself has yet to give any comments about his resignation reports. He has previously denied the news that he will resign from office due to anger, writes the Guardian”.
