Two major groups -- the European People's Party and the Socialists' and Democrats -- will have similar approaches to enlargement, and this policy is based on meeting the conditions. If the country progresses, we believe it should be rewarded”, he has said.
McAllister reiterated Brussels' view that the priority on the path to European integration remains an essential issue of rule of law.
He also spoke of the role of dialogue mediators between Kosovo and Serbia, saying they are interested in reaching a legally binding agreement, which according to him is working hard.
He stressed that the appointments for new European Parliament rapporteurs for all countries in the Western Balkans will be finalised in September of this year.
