The incumbent Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time Chairman of the Social Democrat Initiative Fatmir Limaj, declares that the country must go to the polls after Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj's resignation. It excludes any other option except extraordinary elections, even opposes the creation of a technical government.
Limaj in an interview for Kosovo Press says that after the prime minister's resignation the country is on the verge of elections.
You have seen the Initiative's position, at the moment of resignation Kosovo is on the verge of elections. We as political subject as initiatives are ready for elections and are preparing for electoral process, of course, by respecting procedures that the Constitution and the law impose on us. That's the reality and I believe it's already clear to each of the”, he says.
The party he is leading says will not become part of any technical government, while assuming that the country needs a strong government and is willing to face important topics.
“Nisma cannot become part of any such government. We believe that there is a moment when we must return to citizens, citizens through free will decide for the future government. I think it's time that through the citizen vote we build a government that will take responsibility for many important topics for the country, you know that many topics await us. As never before, Kosovo needs a strong, powerful government ready to face important topics that will open a clear perspective to our country. What I mean, what I'm coming here is not just the next election is more than the” choice, he says.
The leader of the Social Democrat Initiative says the ruling party is ready to go to the polls.
“A political party which is not ready for elections it does not deserve to be on the political scene. The Social Democrat initiative is ready for this election, and we like to say that, without any hesitation or tendency of those sewing and spending, we believe that we have to go to elections”, Limaj says.
As for special court invitations, Limaj says it was created for KLA soldiers and no one should be surprised with such invitations.
“It was created for KLA soldiers, nobody should be surprised if there are such invitations”, he declares.
