Lawyers tell when the first special charges can come

More than seven months have passed since the first invitations by the Special Court have begun to come to Kosovo. Over this period more than 70 former Kosovo Liberation Army members have been invited (UÇK) to be interviewed, whether in the quality of the witness or suspects. The first to confirm acceptance of the invitation [...]
The first to have confirmed acceptance of the invitation by the specialised prosecutor, early December 2018, was Rrustem Mustafa, former commander of the Llap Operative Zone.
Meanwhile, last week's invitation for an interview also took place by former Dukagjin Operational Zone Commander Ramush Haradinaj, who immediately resigned from the prime minister's post.
Taking into account all developments connected with the Special Court, lawyer Tahir Rrecaj has considered that the first charges could be filed in the fall of this year.
“I believe that the charges can be filed by autumn of this year, because it is a very intensive phase of completing the investigation by the prosecutor of the Specialised Chambers”, has declared the case for Voice.
Rates, who is the lawyer of five suspected persons, have said that there are people who are invited by the Court, but who do not want to make their name public. In this regard he has indicated that only one of his clients has expressed a desire to publicly show that he was invited by the Special.
According to Artan Cerkini, a lawyer accredited by the Special Court, the weight of persons recently invited from this court has suggested that special work has intensified.
Perhaps the very weight of those who have received invitations recently has created a perception that the Specialised Prosecutor is more active. In fact, the prosecution has been active since the beginning of the year, has repeatedly sent out invitations, but it may seem to have intensified the work of the Special Prosecutor's Office because recently people with social and political weights in the country received invitations”, he stressed.
But according to Cerkini, recent developments cannot be considered indicators for the establishment of charges.
I think they're doing their job based on the Law for Specialized Chambers. This is no indication to me that soon the charges will arise, even though no one knows when the charges will arise except for the Special Prosecutor's Office”, he added.
