What did Kosovo benefit from the Poznan Summit?

Yesterday, the next Berlin Process Summit held in Poznan, Poland, concluded. The EPIK Institute brings the benefits of each country from this summit to both political and economic levels. On the political level, leaders unanimously reaffirmed their support for the European perspective of the Western Balkans. Likewise, leaders reviewed progress in five specific areas of co-operation: the economy, inter-competitiveity, good neighbourly relations, reconciliation and open bilateral issues and security.

At the same time, leaders agreed that Bulgaria and Northern Macedonia will be in charge of the upcoming Berlin Process Summit. This will be the first time two countries will co-chair the summit.

Croatia to be host to upcoming summit The EU-Western Balkans in May 2020. Albania will be the host of the upcoming Digital Summit in 2020.

Also, leaders have welcomed the offer of Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina to be the host of the Berlin Process's feasibility meetings during 2020.

The summit in particular agreed on the future investment package for the advancement of inter-consequency between the Western Balkans and the EU.

Eight projects with an estimated investment of 728.2m euros were approved in the advance of road, rail and energy transport. In this direction, the EU will finance these investments with grants of 180m euros.

In addition to EU grants, investments will be financed from the Western Balkan countries' budget and loans from the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the German Development Bank ( KfW.

These are agreed funding projects during the Poznan Summit:

  1. Meteran Vc Corridor Rudanka (Kostajnica) tunnel sub-section Putnikovo Brdo 2.
  2. Meiteran Vc Corridor Rudanka (Kostajnica) tunnel sub-section Putnikovo Brdo 2 Medakovo.
  3. Meteran Vc Corridor, under the Popric sub-section Nemilla.

SERBIA

  1. The Trans-Balkan Energy Corridor, 400kV lines Obrenovac, Bayina Bašta.

COMM SOVA

  1. Orient Corridor/ East-Med: Railway Line 10.

NORTHERN MACEEDONIA

  1. Orient Corridor/ East-Med: 6a Street: A4 Motor Road, Skopje-Blace.
  2. The North Macedonia Gas Interconction Greece.
  3. Orient Corridor/ East-Med: North Macedonia railway line ? Serbia. Hekurudhor Tabanovce Joint Station.
