Borissov: Maybe we should fight to get things straight and then deal with it.

Bulgaria's prime minister, Boyko Borisov, at today's Southeast European Co-operation Process Summit (SEECP), has said that if they cannot reconcile over unresolved issues, then perhaps the parties should quarrel with each other to say things openly and then aim at a solution to the problems. “Possibly [...]

Maybe it's not bad to fight, to open up what anyone has to say and then all this results in a” deal, Borissov said.

I have to say that we as the European Union cannot achieve anything until we are unique until we are together with colleagues from the Western Balkans. I was in Poznan a few days ago as Bulgaria and Northern Macedonia took the lead in the Berlin Process. We know this is a process that should continue to contribute to the enlargement process, and we want to leave this discussion open because we understand how important this” is, Borisov has said.

He added that at each meeting with European officials, which has enormously many of these, he stresses that things should progress in terms of the status of the Western Balkan countries. According to him, it is necessary for Serbia and Kosovo to sit down and eventually agree on certain things.

There are some topics now open, such as customs duties, all things that simply destroy our integration. What we need is zero taxes, or at least all of us are equal in this direction”, Borisov said, setting an example of relations between Bulgaria and Turkey, which have numerous problems but that they constantly meet and talk about them.

Borisov stresses that it is necessary for all to understand what the right path is, how to co-operate and be all together. If we can't agree here, maybe it's not bad to fight, say clearly what anyone has to say and then all that results in an agreement. I really hope this will be a successful” conversation, the Bulgarian prime minister said.

He expressed regret over not having Kosovo representatives present at the SEECP Summit in Sarajevo, but took advantage of the case and congratulated them on the successful chairmanship of the process, which they will take from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

For me, all that I see is painful. The Balkans are the best part of Europe. Our seas, rivers, Mediterranean, mountains, all these are in the Balkans, beautiful skiing centres, but what we need mostly are bold politicians”, Borisov said.

Leaders and representatives of participating countries the Southeast European Co-operation Process (SEECP) gathered at the plenary meeting of regional initiatives with which Bosnia and Herzegovina heads.

The summit, held at Jahorina, attended by leaders and members of Bosnia and Herzegovina's chairmanship, Milorad Dodik, Sefik Dzaferovic and Zeljko Komsic, president of Turkey, Recep Tayip Erdoğan, Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic, Northern Macedonia President Stevo Pendarovski, president of Albania Ilir Meta, Serbia's Prime Minister Ana Brnatic, Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and representatives of Croatia, Romania, Romania, Moldova and Slovenia.

Representatives of the European Union (BE) and the Regional Co-operation Council (RCC) participated in the plenary session, while the Kosovo delegation cancelled its presence.

After the summit at Jahorina, BiH completes the process of one-year chairmanship, after which Kosovo will head with this initiative, writes AA.

The SEECP Regional Initiative was founded in 1996 in Sofia in order to strengthen regional co-operation, security and stability.
