Over 40 people died on the highway of Ibrahim Rugova

Arian Bytyqi and Gentri Gallopen are the two young men who lost their lives on the <x0->Ibrahim Rugova” highway, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

In this case, the Prosecutor of the War Crimes has found that two young people died after leaving the banned highway bus.

After consultations with the Public Crimes Prosecutor has been found how the consequences of stopping buses on the highway and which contradicts the laws in power have caused general danger with the result of death since the two victims have emerged from buses”, the police report said.

Arian and Gentritus, however, are not the only ones who found death on this highway. Since its release in 2013, this highway has claimed dozens of lives.

Only in the last six years there have 44 citizens from around the country found their deaths.

According to statistics provided by Express since 2013, there have been over 2,000 and 200 accidents on this highway, a few of which have ended with fatality and injured persons.

In addition to fatal and injured accidents, a significant number of accidents have also resulted in material harm. The last number of these goes to over 1,000 and 400.

Based on Kosovo Police statistics, the year with most accidents on this highway is emerging to have been 2018 with 500 accidents, while 2017 continues to remain the most fatal year.

Meanwhile, the main reasons for such accidents are turning out to be short - speed against road conditions and not keeping distance.

The most frequent causers of accidents in the Highway are: not adapting speed to road conditions, not keeping distance, changing traffic tape in an uncertain way, and unsafe manipulation of vehicles”, the Kosovo Police responses reported.

Otherwise, to avoid traffic accidents, Kosovo Police earlier a year had taken additional measures with the creation of TASK- KFORCUE, through which increased the presence of police units in traffic in all road axes, for the implementation of police planning by applying zero-tolerance measures to all countervasors in traffic.

This institution had appealed to all traffic participants, especially drivers, to respect traffic signs, to adapt to road conditions and speed so that we can all contribute to greater safety in traffic together.
