At least 12 killed by suicide attack in Somalia

At least 12 people were killed in a suicide bombing and a gun in a hotel in the southern part of Somalia. Authorities reported that a suicide attacker exploded a car loaded with explosives at the famous Hotel “Medina”, in the southern city of Kismayo on Friday, before several armed attackers entered the hotel and fired guns.
“Security forces have taken over. The last striker has been shot and killed”, said security official Mohammed Abdieli.
There are dead bodies and people injured inside the hotel and we can't give you exact details, but so far we have confirmed 12 dead bodies and more than 30 people injured. We believe four attackers were involved in the attack, while the number of victims could increase”, he added.
Witnesses said that among the people killed are a prominent social networking activist, her husband, and a local journalist. “The blast was very powerful. I've seen some dead bodies and people leaving the buildings around”, said witness Hussain Muktar.
Otherwise, the Somaleze Journalists' Union reported that among those killed there are two journalists.
Group fighters “Al-Shabab” are fighting for more than a decade to bring down the current Somalian government. It is believed that this group consists of 5,000 to 9,000 members, writes “The Guardian”.
