Finance Minister Grant Ropertson announced that the 137m-euro fund has been earmarked as compensation for those who hand over their weapons before December 20th.
After that date, anyone caught with forbidden weapons is in danger of up to five years in prison.
This law was initiated immediately after the attack on the Christchurch mosque, where 51 Muslim believers lost their lives.
