Police said the suspected person, who has been working for the local Virginia authorities for a long time, has attacked people with fire weapons uncontrolled in an administrative building in this region.
The attacker, whose identity has not been disclosed, was killed during a shootout with police forces. Officials said a cop was hurt after he was shot in the bulletproof vest he was wearing.
The attack began shortly after 16 local time at the Municipal Centre of Virginia Beach, where there are many buildings of city authorities. The area was blocked for police circulation, and all workers were evacuated.
“We just heard people screaming and asking that others get off the ground”, said Megan Banton, administrative assistant to the building where the attack occurred.
One of the victims was shot outside the building in his car, while the others were found on three different floors of the building. The news revealed the chief of police, James Crvena. He said the crime scene was terrible and could best be described as a war zone.
