Support for building a stable statistical sector in Kosovo

The project will specifically support the increased capacities of the Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK) to carry out its key activities standardised and independently in line with EU standards, as well as to strengthen KSF management and co-ordination capacities.
The main beneficiary of this project is the Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK), while other project heeders are: The Ministry of Finance, the Kosovo Central Bank, several ministries of the line, including the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Social Management, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development and the Ministry of Public Administration.
Municipal authorities, especially in the areas of education, health, social issues, demographics and agricultural and environmental statistics, will benefit from the project.
Luigi Brussa, chief of the EU Office Co-operation Sector in Kosovo, said: the European Union places great importance on improving the statistical system, as official statistics are an essential tool for developing democratic and market-oriented societies. Building a stable statistical system according to EU and international standards is the long process, requiring much work and much planning, resources and commitment”
Nasrin Pourgzian, chief of Swedish Co-operation for Reform at the Embassy in Sweden, said: “Effective public administration, with strong administrative capacity to implement reforms for EU integration, is one of the main priorities in our strategy. Strengthening Kosovo's statistical system will lead to better policymaking and decision making for the country”.
The project has officially started on May 01st 2019 and will be implemented over 48 months with the total budgetary amount of 3.53m euros.
